Reverse Engineering
Through the process of Reverse Engineering, it is possible to take a product that has been manufactured in the past and scan it to create new manufacturing data, which will allow that product to be re-created today. Example: Many commercial airplanes have been in operation since the 1970’s. Occasionally, parts on these planes break. In many cases, the manufacturing data for the broken part was never created or has been lost in transition. This is where AcuSurf’s use of Reverse Engineering can help that company easily recreate the part it needs. Acusurf will scan the part to produce an accurate 3D image. Then, we will create all of the necessary manufacturing data, such as: 3D CAD models and 2D drawings. These drawings can then be used to replicate the product. In the case of our airplane example, this use of Reverse Engineering would save our customer’s money and keep perfectly operational airplanes flying.
